Eligibility Criteria

The following requirements must be met in order to be eligible for the Monash University Scholarship:

  • Required Language: English is required language
  •  English Language Test requirements for General: (6.5) overall (no band less than 6.0) in IELTS, and (79 +) Reading 13, Listening 12, Speaking 18 & Writing 21 in TOEFL.
  •     English Language Test requirements for Arts, Business and Economics: (7) overall (no band less than 6.5) in IELTS, and (94 +) Reading 19, Listening 20, Speaking 20 & Writing 24 TOEFL.
  • Eligible Countries: All countries of the world are eligible
  • The student is an international student.
  • A citizen of New Zealand.
  • A citizen of Australia.
  • Permanent resident of Australia.
  • Holder of an Australian humanitarian visa.
  • Bachelor’s degrees require at least four years of full-time study in a relevant field of study, and normally have a component of research in the fourth year as part of the course of study, leading to a first or second class honours degree;
  • In a relevant field, a course leading to a level deemed by the relevant department, faculty and committee to be equivalent to an honours 1A or 2A in that field;
  • Normally, a master’s degree entails a significant research component, which involves at least 25% of one full-time equivalent year of work, which may include the writing of a thesis in addition to other requirements. The research thesis or project is generally expected to have been awarded an honours 2A grade and be accepted for publication. If the paper is not graded, the examiners’ reports will be taken into consideration;
  • The applicant must have qualifications that, in GRC’s opinion, are equivalent to those required for the position.
  • An applicant is chosen for a scholarship based on his/her academic record, research output and prior research experience in addition to his/her academic record.
  • Having not held a Postgraduate Research Award from the Australian Government or Monash for a period of more than six months in the past.
